A plain definition
What Is Pikabuu?
Pikabuu is the title JoyKeratif puts on a series of short horror games. It is not the Russian site Pikabu, not a Monterrey party salon, and not a children’s peekaboo song.
The series in one paragraph
An Indonesian independent developer, JoyKeratif, releases short first-person horror stories under the Pikabuu name. The itch catalog on 29 October 2026 held 10 distinct games and 12 entries. Steam sells two of them, Home and STOP!, Windows only. Several others are on Google Play. Prices are a dollar or two, or pay-what-you-want.
The developer has not published a meaning for the word Pikabuu. It looks similar to peekaboo. That similarity is an observation, not an official etymology.
What it is not
Pikabu is a Russian social-news site founded in 2009, documented on Wikipedia. Pikabuu in Monterrey is a children’s party salon on Salonify. Pikaboo is a World of Warcraft creator on Umbral Market. The Cocomelon “Peek A Boo” video is a nursery song. A different itch user, pikabuu.itch.io, makes browser puzzles. None of those are this series. The split is on the disambiguation page.
Sources and limits — checked 2026-10-29
Developer catalog; Home on Steam; STOP! on Steam. Store prices, versions, file sizes and age labels are single-source observations from each named store, not independently corroborated measurements. USD prices refer to US storefronts; tax, region and later updates may differ. The same developer on two stores is not two independent sources.
Detailed source register links independent video chapters and articles. Only matching independent evidence is described as cross-checked; inaccessible sources and unknown totals remain unresolved.
What I checked
The editorial desk checked the linked public catalog and source register on 2026-10-29. Store-specific fields are single-source observations; no personal playtesting or developer interview is claimed.
